EXPERIENCE

Rocktree Pty. Ltd.
Director / Prime Contractor
, August 1997 to Present

Rocktree was formed to offer consulting and contracting services to the Gaming and other industries with a primary interest in Multimedia and Graphical Display Systems.

Products:

Rocktree owns intellectual property in the form of software that runs on the Win32 platform and receives data from a central system in real time and converts this information into high quality graphics and representing the numbers drawn for Keno, Bingo and other numbers based games.

This software has been created using Microsoft Visual C++, MFC and DirectX. It will support multiple monitors from the one unit, each acting independently and capable of displaying different images. It is also possible to down line load new images and configuration information.

The Video Sub System has been licensed to Tabcorp (formally Jupiter’s Limited, formally AWA) the operators of Club Keno in NSW. It has been installed in over One Thousand clubs in New South Wales. The product is being used to display the results of their various products (Keno, “Heads or Tails?” and Keno Racing), each on their own channel. An additional channel is being used for advertising and promotional purposes.

This product has also been licensed to the Unitab (330+ venues),  South Australian Lotteries (600+ venues) and ACTTAB (50+ venues) to display Keno results using such themes as a Cage, Australian Rules, Rugby League, Cricket, Soccer, Golf, Christmas, New Year, Easter and several other themes. There are now over twenty themes available to be displayed. The sequence, cycle and frequency of these themes can all be controlled from the central site. This product has been in operation for over ten years without incident.

RECENT CONTRACTS

OneRecovery Inc, USA
Software Validation, November 2008 to January 2009

Rocktree was contracted to validate the outputs of a large overseas outsourcing company engaged to develop a new social networking website. The result of this review proved enlightening and allowed the client to address the issues with the outsourcing company to obtain a better overall product.

Unitab Limited
Supplier, June 2006 to Present

The Video Sub System was supplied to Unitab Limited to display the results of the Keno game in its TAB outlets throughout Queensland. We also provided a back end Administration for the monitoring and control of units in the field.

South Australian Lotteries
Supplier, June 2003 to Present

The Video Sub System was supplied to South Australian Lotteries (SAL) to display the results of its Keno game in its retail network. This replaced a Gtech supplied Gstation system. More recently Rocktree has supplied an Administration program that allows messages to be sent to its VSS units to control the display of images from predefined image libraries, free format text messages and the scheduling of themes at each of the remote units.

Company: Pharmacial Company
Contractor, December 2005 to August 2006

Rocktree was contracted to provide analysis, design, programming and technology skills, to develop a prototype to enable web based viewing, communication, tracking and alerts between Doctors, Pharmacies and Aged Care facilities to eliminate the many phone calls that occur between these parties.

Skills: Mantis, PHP, MySQL, C++, Sockets.

Company: Undisclosed
Contractor, September 2005 to October 2005

I was contracted by a local company to help design and adapt an existing on-line, real-time transaction processin system written in Java to provide SMS alerts. Due to the requirements of a non disclosure I cannot say more than this.

Skills: Design, Java, Linux

Company: Department of Defence – Parachute Jump School
I designed, developed, delivered and documented the desktop back end and hand held software that would enrol, track and assess trainees as they attended the Parachute Jump School in Nowra, NSW.

Skills: JavaScript, Protara, WindowsCE

Company: Department of Defence – Civil Accreditation
I designed, developed, installed, documented and maintained a system which allowed civilian equivalent qualifications to be issued to defence personnel for training performed while in the service. Given the locked down nature (SOE) of the defence desktops, a custom application was not an option. The solution was an Access Database which tracked the work flow with the final output being a merge with Microsoft Word to produce the certificate, letter and mailing labels.

Skills: VBA, Access, Word, Office Automation

Company: Department of Defence – Overseas Training and Education
I designed, developed, installed, documented and maintained a system which nominated and tracked Australian defence personal while on training overseas. A client, server model was chosen with a centralised database and filtered views for the multiple users.

Skills: JavaScript, Protara, Client / Server

Company: Elders
I designed, developed, delivered, documented and maintained a system which enabled remote users to broker deals between buyers and sellers at sale yards and transmit that information in real time back to head office. This consisted of a back end server which interfaced to existing systems via IBM WebSphere MQ and handheld software which ran on Compaq iPaq units and the then new GPRS network.

Skills: C++, WindowsCE, GPRS, Sockets

Company: Air Liquide
I designed, developed, delivered, documented and maintained a system which allowed truck drivers to receive consignments and to track the delivery of gas cylinders to various customers. Interface to the existing system was by specially constructed SQL tables with the hand held software running on Symbol devices.

Skills: C++, WindowsCE, MSSQL

Company: Purpose Built Software
I was a member of the team that produced the Captra product. This software enabled a user to perform all functions of the Quickbooks accounting package on a hand held device and then sync and update the desktop.

Skills: C++, WindowsCE, Quickbooks
